Audrey Hepburn was my absolute favorite actor growing up. My entire bedroom was decorated with her, I had posters and photographs of her all over my wall; I even had an Audrey Hepburn wall clock! I was completely enthralled with her style, her beauty, and her character. She was whom I wanted to be when I grew up. I would longingly wish that I looked like her or had an ounce of her elegance and beauty. I would watch her movies and wish I were as thin as she was so that I could dress just like her. She was the epitome of fashion and style, everything I hoped to be, and the reason why I started pursuing fashion in college. Though I still see her as an icon to look up to and want to emulate, today I stand here as a grown woman happy with who I am, unapologetically me, comfortable and confident in my own skin and looks…and that is beautiful.

I have always loved this quote by Audrey Hepburn, “I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles.”
It is so encouraging to see that she stood true to herself and her beliefs. I love that inner beauty and strength were just as, or even more important, than outer beauty. Everything that she believed in still holds up to this day and it makes me feel inspired every time I read it.

In addition to Audrey Hepburn’s list of beliefs, I also believe that not wearing make-up is lovely. I believe in yoga pants and tank tops. I believe in skinny jeans and stilettos. I believe in giving yourself grace. I believe in the importance of self-care. I believe strong is the new pretty. I believe life is better when you dance. I believe we should sing like nobody is listening. I believe that smart is sexy. I believe in the power of kindness. I believe in date nights. I believe in affection and being in love. I believe in supporting women. I believe in following your heart. I believe that loyalty, honesty, and integrity set you apart from the many whom are without. I believe in having courage; to conquer your fears and to stand up for yourself, but most importantly, to be who you are.

I think it is important to know what you believe in and what makes you, YOU! Hold on to those beliefs, stay true to who you are, because you are special and irreplaceable. The world needs YOU- who you are and who you were put on this earth to be. Believe in yourself, you are AMAZING, do not forget that!
